hopefully before November 1, 2016 *Make sure you are a BPA Member http://boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml Latest Update: January 8, 2018 Welcome to the home page of the BPA AREA Online The Napoleonic Wars Tournament. Tournament started November 2016. Sign-ups To join this tournament, you must be a member of the Board Game Players Association. 1) To join the BPA visit this page: http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml 2) Then e-mail the GM at wobes@cox.net (Warren Day) hopefully no later than November 1st, 2016. Tournament Structure Each player will initially be assigned to one of three Swiss games that will run consecutively. These games will be assigned randomly. The nations are France, England, and Austria-Russia (one resource). Resource to Russia unless otherwise stated prior to AR first card play. It is okay to draw cards out of order to get the games started quicker. Every effort will be made to make sure that you play with mostly different players in these games as 3 European Powers. After three Swiss rounds, the final 9 players will complete through single elimination. Points will be awarded for how one placed first (5,3,1) and ties resolved with total victory points earned (keys, allies, resources, etc). Time Frame & Victory Conditions We hope to complete round one within three months (February 2017). Round two games were just posted in January to give speedier players a chance to keep playing, and other players a chance to get started earlier on their second game if they so chose. For all rounds the one week elimination rule does not go into effect until the official start date. Round 2 ends May 30, 2017. Round 3 starts June 1, 2017, but players may start early if they so agree. The GM may adjudicate games that drag on, partially weighing in favor of the player who moved faster. Failure to put in a move within one week of that players action results in automatic elimination. If playing a game face-to-face let the GM know. Please check the ACTS website regularly for card plays and dice rolls. http://acts.warhorsesim.com/tnw.asp First 5 points, Second 3 points, Third 1 point. Players may use VASSAL or cyber board for their game map. Semi-finals (9 players) starting October 1, 2017 and ended December 31, 2017. The finals (3 players) have begun January 1, 2018. 4-6th place will go to the 2nd place chronological winners of the semi-finals. Important Notes Please check the website regularly. Games are AREA rated. If extra dice rolled ignore the later one(s) and count the earlier one(s). If extra card(s) played, put back into hand. No inappropriate language. Good sportsmanship / maturity is expected. At the end of each game please list the three nations and their respective victory points both in ACTS and as a separate e-mail to the GM. If using VASSAL add 2 French troops at Zurich (missing). Also the House of Rothchilds card does not re-shuffle the deck due to ACTS. After a card is played or a battle is rolled etc...there is a 24 hour limit on playing a corresponding response card. After that 24 hour limit then proceed (It could be less time if your ally took an action). Likewise for interceptions and pre-emptions.
